Although the Harvard Band
is better known for its musical ability and quick wit, the HUB has never
been ashamed of its ability to form amusing, reocognizable formations on
the field with an absolute minimum of rehearsal.
One of the band's famous
bow and arrow moves. Perhaps someone can date this photo from the crimson
prop crew uniforms?.
The cannon formation at
the 75th reunion. As we played the "1812 Overture", hydrogen balloons
were used to simulate cannon blasts.
Small "cannon balls" of woodwind
players ran out of the end of the cannon to spell "MOM" (she had died the
previous fall).
An Indian with pipe formation
from the late 1940's. Probably for a Dartmouth football game.
This is either a pilgrim
or John Harvard, again probably from the late 1940's. Note how they
have used the two bass drums for eyes and then Bertha, the big drum, for
a nose.
A lovely script lower-case
"y" for the yalies that also displays as an "H" for the Harvard side of
the Bowl.
